As a licensed therapist in DC, Diane is committed to empowering youth to achieve mental wellness for positive transitioning to college and overall wellbeing. She strongly believes in helping youth build personal and psycho-social factors to increase college success. She earned her B.S. in psychology from Towson University, Maryland, and her Master of Education in School Psychology and Counseling Services from Howard University.
Diane currently practices as a Licensed Professional Therapist, serving minority youth and families in the Washington, DC area. Her experiences include Individual counseling, developing and facilitating therapeutic groups such as “YOUnique Smile”, which helps young girls build confidence from within, and working with John Hopkins’ summer A.C.C.E.S.S Program, geared toward increasing psycho-education among high school students for college preparedness. She specializes in working with minority families, children, and youth dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. Her interest in researching relationships between Ethnic Identity and academic achievement earned her the opportunity to co-present for the 2018 Eastern Psychological Association along side Dr. Charla Mckenzie.
Brené Carrington is a mass marketing and communications expert in practice for over eight years. She started out as a fashion/beauty model for brands such as Pantene, American Airlines, and CurlBox but quickly became interested and involved in deeper roles within visual media. Brené provided creative direction for fashion, lifestyle, and real estate brands before becoming a Multi-Media Strategist at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). At UMD, she partnered with incubators and technology start-ups within the state of Maryland to promote and provide opportunities for funding.
Acting as a Marketing and PR manager at a national PR & Events firm in Washington, DC, she now contributes to federal government and commercial client contracts. Passionate toward public and political awareness campaigns, digital content strategy, content development, mass advertising, and social media strategy, Brené is dedicated to marketing services/products that benefit the majority. She chooses to provide pro-bono consulting and partnership alongside small businesses, entrepreneurs, and community organizations missioned toward the economic, health, and educational advancement of the under-advantaged. Brené studied at Earl G. Graves School of Business at Morgan State University and at Robert E. Smith School of Business in the MBA program at University of Maryland, College Park.
